Dickey's Barbecue Pit, the largest barbecue franchise in the world, may soon be coming to a neighborhood near you. The chain with over 500 locations in 44 states has reported tremendous growth in its first quarter of this year, having opened 60 new locations across 12 states, with even more currently in the pipeline.

According to Restaurant News, the beloved Texas-style barbecue chain plans on growing its footprint further in Colorado, Florida, Texas, Washington, California, Tennessee, Arizona, Michigan, Montana, and Oklahoma with 67 new franchise agreements, and two existing operators in Ohio and Southern California.

"With 80 years of operation under our belt, Dickey's continues to show why we're the largest barbecue franchise in the world," said Roland Dickey, Jr., CEO of Dickey's Capital Group, in a statement. "Interest among new and existing franchisees is remaining at an all-time high because we've been proving that we're an innovative brand with staying power for the past eight decades. We had an incredible development performance this quarter, and we look forward to carrying this strong momentum into the rest of 2021."

Dickey's has recently announced the launch of WingBoss, the company's first virtual concept serving pit-smoked wings. So far, about 40 locations have onboarded the wing menu, with plans for additional 20 locations following suit by the end of this month.

The chain is also celebrating its 80th birthday this year, an occasion marked with an Anniversary Meal that includes a Pulled Pork Classic Sandwich, a choice of side, and a Double Berry Cobbler starting at $8.80.
