Owner sets aside $2 for each insurance quote provided to consumers; donates the amount collected each quarter to charity
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 15, 2016)– A simple idea—set aside $2 per insurance quote—has now provided 16 million gallons of fresh water to children and families, meals for more than 320 people in need, and now, psychological care and legal assistance for sexually abused children and women.
A lifelong charitable giver, in 2015, Dimitri Apostle, owner of Brightway, The Dimitri J. Apostle Agency in Charlotte, made a formal commitment with himself to give back through his agency and several local, national and international agencies and the people they serve have since benefitted.
Apostle’s latest donation will benefit “Recovering Hope,” a group of volunteers based in North Carolina who support People Hope International, an organization that provides human rights services in South America. And next, his efforts will benefit the “Smile Train” that provides free cleft palate surgery and aftercare for children in 87 countries.
From the time Apostle was 10 years old, he recognized that everyone has an opportunity to give back. That was when his mother took him to the Rescue Mission in Muskegon, Mich. to donate clothes. Having a small amount of money in his pocket from mowing the neighbor’s lawn, he told his mother he wanted to give the money he had to help other people.
“Every amount helps, no matter the size,” Apostle said. “I research and pick a different charitable organization each quarter.”
