I think we need to go on a break…forever.
Hi Everyone,
I’m going to try something a little bit different with this post. After all, change is the only constant. Right?
I am writing a story about business start-up and, well, change. I’m asking franchise owners what it was like to break up with your boss! Every franchise owner remembers the day that he or she dropped the news that they found someone else and were moving on. Of course, it wasn’t the company, it was them. Maybe they told them over lunch? Maybe it was sneaky via email? Maybe they even threw all of their belongings out of the building and got into a screaming match. Whatever it was, I’m sure it felt great.
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect to see in the story:
Tom, who has worked in the automotive industry for 26 years, was working for the Midas Corporation when he told his boss that he wanted to open some of his very own Midas franchises. “I just told him that I was going to open my own business,” he said, remembering feeling relieved. Now owning two Atlanta-area Midas stores, Tom says that his old boss stops in all the time to see him. “He was very supportive,” he adds.
Now I want to hear from you! What is your story? How did you tell your boss? How did it make you feel? Was he/she mad? What did their face look like?
