Canada hoping to clean up some of America’s junk

Okay, so not the country itself. But the Canadian franchise, Just Junk Inc. has made plans to offer franchising opportunities in Florida…the first in the US.

Just Junk is one of Canada’s most reputable waste management and junk removal brands. Not only does Just Junk specialize in helping clean up industrial waste, but it is also environmentally pleasing. The company also boasts that about 60% of what they remove is either recycled or donated to charities including Goodwill, Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.

A recent press release from Just Junk retraces Mike Thorne, the CEO’s, steps before he burst onto the junk-free scene.

Five years ago, Mike Thorne was working with one of Canada’s largest corporations in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Sitting at his desk in a sea of cubicles, he was asked to remove old office equipment from the 7th floor of his building. After searching unsuccessfully for a junk removal company, it hit him – he realized everything in this world would one day need to be removed and disposed of.

“It was an epiphany,” said Thorne. “Within a couple of weeks, I had left my well-paying position and life in Toronto and moved back to my hometown in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. I bought a US$500.00 cargo van, named my one-man-in-a-van operation JUST JUNK and I opened for business.”
